Is my temperature ok??

pinky69 Mar 29, 2004 11:24 PM

I use a UTH, 100 watt daylight bulb, and a 75 watt red night bulb. The daytime temp. is usually 82ish and at night it goes down to about 72. Is this okay? I had a 150 watt daylight buld in there at first but after about 15 minutes the rocks in there were VERY hot, so I switched. She has paper towel as a subtrate - I had Lizard Litter, but I was worried about impaction, and it was pretty dusty. She has a humid hide, with moss, and a dry hide, a water dish, and a bowl of calcium, along with lots of rocks and a few plastic plants to play on and hide under. She seems ok, seems to be settling in, but I haven't seen her eat much for 5 days, just a couple of crickets. She's not interested in mealies at all. And I haven't seen her drink yet, but I can't stay up all night to watch her. (She knows where it is, 'cuz she runs through it all the time lol). And I'm pretty sure she hasn't eating out of the calcium dish, so I have been shakin' the crickets. Is this all good? Any suggestions would be awesome (I'm not sure how old she is, she's about 4"...I'll post a pic soon)

Hi

I would take a guess that if she is four inches long that she could be about four months old.

The basking end of your tank should be around 88 degrees and I don't worry about the temp. on the cool end, because she can thermoregulate her own body temperature by going to the cool end if she is to hot and go to the warm end if too cold.

Even though you have a dish of calcium in the tank, it is still a good idea to dust the crickets with it and that way you now she is getting calcium.

Take Care, TLB

Thanks I'm pretty sure everything is the way it's suppose to be - the temp., subtrate, etc. but she's still not eating much at all, in the past 2 weeks she's only eaten MAYBE 4 or 5 crickets. She seems fine, even shed 2 weeks ago, but she's just not eating Any suggestions? Am I just being a paranoid new mommy? Please help. Thanks.
