I have seen the blue eyed blonde Cal Kings on Vivid Reptiles website. I have a lavender cal. king, with the ruby eyes, not blue, that I just ordered from Dwight Good. I'll try take some photos sometime this week.

Nice Lavender cal. king Kerby. Just curious how old and large your lavender king is? Also do they change color from hatchling to adult as far as how dark the lavender is, or the color of the yellow bands? I didn't know it the colors tend to get brighter with age, duller, or stay about the same. I have an 03 male Lavender Cal. King I just purchased, or I should say he's my Wife's snake. I've always been more into the natural morphs, but I must say the lavender is a nice looking Cal.King.

Because cal kings differ. Just like any other albino cal king. A black and white cal king as an albino will look different than a brown and yellow cal king as an albino. The same with lavenders. Breed the lavenders into: blacks, browns, stripes, spotteds, yellows, whites, high whites, high yellows, bananas, ghost, mendotas, etc... and produce hets for lavender - breed back and produce different looking lavenders. I have dark lavenders and light lavenders, but it is the same gene, it's just that the cal kings were different shades of brown before the lavender was introduced.

I do have some interesting projects coming up with these recessive genes: Lavender, albinism, ghost, & mendota. Combine these with dominant genes (high white, high yellow, banana, stripe, spotted, reverse high white, all other aberrancies, etc...)

Last year I bred the Mendota as such:
Mendota x Mendota = all Mendota babies
Mendota x Chocolate Banded = all Chocolate Banded (het for Mendota)
Mendota x 50-50 = all 50-50's het for Mendota
Mendota x Albino High White = all high whites that are double hets (albinism and mendota).

Last year I also bred an Albino High White x Blizzard.

So next year I will be breeding back the double hets (Albino High White & Mendota) and 1 out of 16 of the babies will show both traits at the same time (an Albino High White Mendota LOL)

This year I will be breeding some ghost into: Lavenders, & albino high whites. My Mendotas are way to big for some of my younger breeders, but I kept an additional pair of Mendotas from last year to keep the size the same as they all grow older. Plus I got a pair of Davis cal kings (one is partially striped) from Rick Staub last year. I will breed those to the Mendotas next year and I'm sure it is the same gene. I will find out next year if the ghost gene is different from others.

So, back to the Lavenders. My lavenders have retained that "purplish" look. But I have seen others look pretty much like regular albinos as adults. The Lavender color will change somewhat as the young cal king grows and might change as it gets older. I have yet to breed a Lavender to an Albino, but those that have got normal babies that were double hets. In a few years I should have Cal Kings that are QUADRUPLE HETS (albinism, lavender, ghost, mendota). I can see new desciptive names coming in the future LOL

Are also VERY EXCELLENT....! My first snake was a rosy boa... liked him so much I contacted Kerby and bought THREE cal kings.. .all back in '01. Last year the female presented us with 8 wild looking babies, and they've already bred again this year! Kerby's snakes are the best quality! Here's a picture of one of the three we got from him. Of course it was little then, and is big now!

Thanks for the information on the lavenders. This is the first lavender I've ever had, and didn't know too much about these guys. Are the ruby eyes found on all lavenders, or does that vary from individual? What's interesting is on Tim's Website at "Vivid Reptiles", they have what they call a "blue eyed blonde" Cal. king. They look alike, or very simular to a lavender, except they have blue eyes, with very yellow bands. Was curious if these two morphs were related? A very interesting morph to say the least. Thanks,

Steve
