Both end up in similar size ranges. The Barnecks aren't as heavy bodied as an adult, and probably reach adult size sooner. An old, large papuan python would have a similar mass to a Barneck a little longer in length. I'm not as sure on the scrub info, but 10-15 ft. is what I have often heard (though it depends on locality, obviously.) A really huge Papuan is, however, really huge. (ie the one you often hear of that consumed a 22kg Wallaby.)

the longest new guinea snake on record is a papuan python, well over 16 feet. the barkers had the longest barneck on record (i think) and she was 15 feet 10 inches. so i guess that means the papuan python is the larger of the 2. otherwise youre correct, papuans are a more heavily built snake than scrubs are.

I'd guess 12-13 feet long and maybe 30 something pounds (I should really weigh her to see). She is about as thick as a 2 liter bottle of soda or maybe a little bigger than that. I don't think they get reaaaaally long like a retic but they can become girthy. Hope this helps. Frank Kincade.

Hey thanks for providing pictures of your beautiful Papuan Python and of course, daughter (Thanks for using her for size reference). Telling by the pictures I assume that she's very tame. If you don't mind, may ask where you purchased her from? Thanks again and have a good one.

Sincerely,

Darryl V.

indirectly from Jordan Russell through Eric Lee in California and 1.0 ltc sub adult from Ben Seigel in Florida. They are all thriving and I hope to produce some captive bred beauties some day. I was hoping this may be the year but I don't think so. I was sure one of my females was gravid but it does not appear to be this year. I just got some eggs from my Jungle Carpet python and I have a gravid carpet cross ready to go any day now. Glad you liked the pictures and all of my papuans are very tracable once they are out of their enclosures.
