Rocky had a prolapse on sunday, my vet was clossed so i called the emrgency help line,

In the mantime while i was waiting for the call back i kept misting hi m to keep it moist,
he called back latter, he told me to put powdered sugar on it so it would suck out some of the moisture thus reduce swelling then put ky jelly on it to slide it back into place. NAyhow i tried for 45 minutes it wasnt working, so i got an appointment with the vet yesterday, all sunday nightr i was spraying him down did not sleep for more then 15 minutes.

We got him to the vet it took liek an hour to get things all well and good, but he needed 5 stiches. There getting taken out on friday i have him split from the females, and im going to do so for a while

I cam home today to find rocky practicaly life less, he died tongiht at aorund 9:30 im very upset now, but upon examination of his body the stiches were accross his vent, i gess to keep form prolaspsing btu wouldnt that have kept him from excreeting

well tonigh blew im a mess.

I'm sorry, Sean. It's awful to lose a critter. At least you took him to the vet and did what you could for him. My condolences.

any idea why he would have died? The hemipenis was reinsereted then there are stiches holding it in place they were supposed to eb taken out today or tmmrw.

If I had any idea, I'd surely tell you, but I am still quite new to cresties. My best guess based on knowledge of other animals is that there was either a blockage as a result of the same problem as the prolapse or an acute infection not susceptible to the antibiotics given. Your vet would probably do a necropsy if you were willing/able to pay for it. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
