Where at LAX did you find the Hellori? Was it on those sand dunes at the end of the runway? As a child I used to live in Playa Del Rey and remember looking for snakes on Howard Hughs old property.
I now live in the San Fernando Valley and remove Snakes from peoples yards throughout the Santa Monica Mountains(Malibu, Calabassas, Woodland hills, Tarzana, Encino, Hoolywood, and Los Filez).
Snakes so close to the beach is strange to me. I talked with some surfers last summer that swear they encounter Rattlers on the beach in the sand? I don't know if its the polluted water going to their head or if they really saw it? I guess anything is possible in Los Angeles.
I find it crazy how many snakes live in Los Angeles. Most of the snakes we remove are Southern Pacific Rattlers (Hellori).
I'm told that the Mojave greens live in the Santa Monica Mountains as well but I've never seen them. They mostly seem to be between East San Fernando and Lancaster where its more dry.
It's nice to read local field info from a So. Cal local.
Here is a yearling Hellori I removed in woodland hills the other day.
