Hi

No, you wouldn't see anything this soon.

No, you can't tell if they have mated, unless you have seen it yourself.

Breeders will tell you that you should waite until the female is at least a year and a half old to mate for her own health and safety, even though she will become sexually mature sooner, also she should have some decent weight on her as well, because so much goe's into the development of the eggs and takes away from her body reserves.

The male pretty much desides when he is going to mate with her and just does it. Sometimes you may run into a female that may not want to do it at the time and she will let him know it by bitting him or something.

When the female is pregnant, you can usually see the eggs through the stomache and also notice that she i fatter in the stomache area. When she is ready to lay, she can start to dig stuff out of her humid hide and also she can stop eating a week to two week before she is going to lay her eggs.

Another little note for you, a female can retain extra male sperm inside of her for up to a year.

ok,

thanks for the advice....she doesnt bite at him...he is the one that is chasing her around the cage and biting at her tale....when he touches her she just casually moves away...another question: how long is does the male have t be on top of the female while they mate????? thanks,

Hi

Since they are active at night, that is when they should do the bulk of it. I have seen mine sometimes doing it during the day also.

Hi

A female will lay two eggs in a laying, but it is not unheard of for a female to lay just one egg. They basically lay two.

Usually a female will lay infertile eggs for the first one or two egg layings (call it a practice run), but there also has been a few that will lay fertile one's the first time, but more so the later. Just incase though, don't toss them.

Do not rotate the eggs in anyway when removing them from your tank to put them in the incubator. They must be put in the incubator the same way the female layed them and they will never need to be rotated.

Hi

One more thing, there is no such thing as to many questions when you are trying to learn and improve your knowledge of your Leopard Geckos.

Question for you, how long have you had a gecko for?, how old are they? and what did you name them?.

Take Care, TLB
