Walk in incubator, waiting for action!!

exoticballpython Mar 30, 2004 10:50 AM

This is our walk in incubator, it is up to temperature and running perfectly, It is located in the center of the building and double insulated walls. The incubator is controlled by a helix 1500 watt system, and a Lakewood oil filled heater, which maintains a constant temperature of 89.4 to 89.6 degrees. Now we just have to wait the few more days till our first couple of clutches arrive!!

Enjoy the pictures

WOW!!

What a great setup. I'd like to ask a few questions:

1- I saw 3 levels of shelves, are there more?

2- Do you have ventilations within the room so that temps are not stratified?

3- are temps pretty consistent between bottom shelves and top shelves?

4- Once you place eggs in container and place glass over it do you have to introduce more water (for humidity) during the incubation process or is it set for the duration?

Thanks for answering these? you really have a great setup!!!

Ben, There is only 3 levels in the room, Yes there is a exhaust system to interchange air, However I wont really be using this feature very often at all and I personally don't think it is needed. Yes the temperatures are extremely equal throughout the entire room and all three levels. I control that by 2 fans in the room. When I mix the substrate for the eggs it "should" maintain the correct humidity level in the container through the 59 day cycle, but I will also monitor this just to make sure.

Glad you like the pictures, and the incubation room.
