Look for feces, sheds, etc. to determine where he's hanging out. Then, set up a hiding place near that location(something dark he can crawl under) next to a bowl of water. Check the hiding place regularly. Also remember, unless your door is flush with the floor, your lizard will have no problem exiting your room.
I set up the above in closet where I'd found a shed from an al who'd been AWOL for close to 3 months, I had him back within the week. Once they get thirsty the water is a real attractant, but you need to put it somewhere that the al already frequents.
