Infertile Eggs?!???

dmlove Jun 12, 2003 07:57 PM

well i have a pretty young dragon, Artemis, and shes 14-15 inches long. She is about 7 months old i THINK, im not sure. She has seen my male bob his head at her, but has NEVER been in contact with a male. Lately she looks kind of bloated, i felt her stomach and i THINK (lol) i felt eggs, but im not sure. She is digging to get out of the cage, and she has a loss of appetite (hasnt eaten for about 3 days, only nibbled salad. Could she have developed infertile eggs? If so, should i put her in a tub with potting soil and vermiculite for her to lay for a few days, and if she doesnt then dont worry about it?! thanks!

You definitely should place her in a tub with the soil to see if she has eggs.. it's normal for them to stop eating a few days before laying eggs.. and digging around the cage is a good sign she is ready to lay. I'd do it for her right away, don't want her to get egg bound. And yes, it's possible she developed infertile eggs by being stimulated from the male even tho he did not breed her.

G'luck.
