Incubator is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

RedQuake Mar 30, 2004 02:48 PM

Hi all,

Well i got my Hovabator on Saturday before work....the eggs are in there and the temps are holding at 81.5 I've been working 17 hour shifts so i haven't had much time at home, just enough to feed/water everyone, sleep for a few hours and head back to work. I'm pretty exhausted but i'll enjoy the pay hehe. I played with the incubator Saturday night at work, setting it up. Its the coolest thing. I still don't understand how the temps are raised or lowered by moving the waffer up and down, but thats Ok. It works and thats all i'm concerned about I have one more night to work (not a double shift thankfully LOL) and then i'll start taking pics. I still haven't introduced my new girls yet

Just wondering, since i've put water in the bottom of the incubator is it required to leave a top on the container with the eggs to hold humidity or can i leave it off?

Thanks
Red

i would just not put water in there and leave the eggs in moist incubation medium. That way you aren't messing around with stuff you dont know about.

unless you live in a VERY arid part of canada i would not even bother keeping water in the bottom generally if you do the "squeeze" tests.. soak the vermiculite and squeeze as much water as you can out, then place in deli cup
. ok so if you do that you should have no problems with the humidity or molding eggs (unless they are bad from the begining)
i live down here in south central texas and i do not put water in the bottom sometimes durring the middle of summer i end up having to mist down the side just a tad in the male temp sexed incubators

Thankyou I did the squeeze thing before putting the eggs into the container I will be buying that thermometer with the humidity levels shown so i'll be better able to monitor it
