later than previous years egg laying

phil nj Jun 12, 2003 08:26 PM

I live in south/central NJ and in past years I have had egg laying by the 1st or early 2nd week of june. As of today nothing yet. The weather has been cool and rainy until the past week or so, the turtles have really just started eating recently also. The first has been up from hibernation since the the first week of april the second female 2 weeks later, the male also came up the middle of april. They have been active now and arte all eating well, but stil no nesting. Has anyone else in the northeast have any boxies that already layed this year?

I'd blame it on the weather.... its been much cooler than normal.

Also, some years they just don't seem to lay much or at all. It kind of stinks, but I guess that's nature.
