feeding

dragon55 Mar 30, 2004 06:40 PM

is is ok to feed my baby dragons at around 3:30 in the afternoon and then again about an hour before their lights go out at ten? I'm worried that that will be too long between meals, but the dragons are acting ok. I can't wake them up as early as I have to leave for school and am gone during the day

Your best bet is to put rep-cal pellets or salad chopped fine with t-rex VGF in thier cage first thing in the mornng even if your BD is not awake yet. They need the moisture during the heat of the day so they dont get dehydrated. babies should be fed 2-3 times a day.

you might want to give them more time to digest their meals in the evenings, just an hour might not be long enough. i have the same problem with being gone during the day, and i just wake the dragons up an hour before i get up so they are ready to eat when i can feed them in the morning (around 7ish). then i feed them again when i get home from work/school (5-6ish). during the day i leave salads and pellets like was already posted. good luck with the schedule though.

that was my original plan, but when I turned their lights on in the morning and fed them about an hour afterward before I left for school, they were still lathargic and didn't hardly eat at all. Also, in order to do so, the lights would have to come on at 6 in the morning and go off between 6-9 at night. At that time in the night, things are still going on in my room and I don't want to disturb them. I already keep greens in the cage with them during the day, and I tried the new schedule yesterday and they all seemed to eat well.
