Does anyone have anything to say about Zoomed's Power Sun bulb?
I liked the Powersun, tort liked it, too--for 2 months, then it failed. Based on my research, this is a common problem with the Powersuns. Now I'm using a 60w Active UVHeat with external ballast, which are supposed to be more durable (especially to vibration, which seems to be the problem with internal ballast bulbs, at least at my house). I do see a difference using MV bulbs vs. fluorescent--more activity, better appetitite.

It should have a 12 month guarantee... mine failed after about two months and was replaced (with 10 mo. guarantee left!)! I used it on 2 Russians that had grown soft due to improper prior care and their shells hardened very well!
Oh, I got a replacement, and a new warranty, and I'm keeping the new bulb for a "just in case." The problem is, that was the 3rd internal ballast MV bulb I'd had in 4 months (the other two were Capture the Sun), and while I never had any problem replacing them under warranty, having to pack them up and ship them back was a royal pain. Then I read about the connection between vibration and failure rate, and put 2 and 2 together (2 rampaging boys in the house, wood floors...) and realized that the internal ballast bulbs would probably continue to fail in my house. So now I'm trying the external ballast bulb.
I do totally agree with you, though--the MV bulbs are great (that's why I've stuck with them through so much aggravation).
