Bill you around? Crested diet problems...

ChuUtena Mar 30, 2004 08:28 PM

Two things I have a question about. One, how exactly is the crested gecko diet supposed to look like when it's the right consisitency? (sp?) For whatever reason, I couldn't get it to not be runny. And two, how should I go about feeding the little baby? Should I leave a capful of the food? How do I do this? I'm sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions, I just want to make sure I take care of this little one perfectly! I don't know what they fed the cresties before I bought it I guess I just didn't think to ask. Anyone can give me input if they want! I just know Bill was helping me earlier! Thanks everyone.

Kristen,
answer#1: If you mix the diet as directed(2 parts water to 1 part diet) and it is too watery, you just add more powder until it is alittle thicker. The consistancy I like to get it is think but pourable, sort of like a thin pancake batter. It is ok if it seems thin, you just need to make sure the powder is in suspention and not sicking to the bottom of the mix. Hope that helps...lol.

answer#2: As far as getting it to eat the diet. They all very in how readily they take to it, but a healthy crested will not stave itself if only offered the diet. It kind of matters how patient you are. If you crestie is small and you worry alot, I would offer the diet 2-3 times a week and offer crix 1-2 times a week(dusted with the leo dust). You can freeze the diet in ice cube trays if you don't want to keep making small mixes. You can feed itout of a cap or small lid. I put it up against a wall it might climb down or towards the end of a branch on the cage. you can try to monitor if it is eating it by putting just enough to cover the base of the cap and looking closly at it the next day.

let me know if you need more help.
