Can I add salamanders to a tank with a RES and 3 crayfish? The tank has sand and rocks on the bottom and I thought they could eat the scraps of mealworms like the crayfish. So is this a good or bad idea?

If I'm reading you correctly you have red ear sliders $ crayfish right? I wouldn't recommend adding any salamanders as the crayfish and turtles would stress them out and possibly eat them. Just set up a second tank.

Hi there:
I have known some people who house newts with crustaceans, but, in my opinion, it isnt a very good idea. A large crayfish could easily grab a delicate little salamander or newt with one of those big claws. Crayfish are usually not very friendly toward other species in captivity. I did, however, once observe some larger crayfish swimming alongside red-spotted newts at the base of a waterfall. But in general, it is usually not a good idea to mix amphibians and crustaceans.
