A vet might be able to push that pac in. Don't touch it, wrap it in wet sterile towels and get over there. If no vet I don't know what you can do. I wouldn't recommend putting it back in yourself but you could try .

O by the way its a prolaplsed bladder I think...

i do believe its the intestines or bladder. DON"T put it in yourself there is WAY too much risk in that. it has to get to a vet NOW!

i would take a close look at the leo see if she/ he is haveing any problem at all. if he/she isnt then i would take her to the vet tomorow and have them check things over.... and they will prolly tell you wat you can do...

rinoa05_1987 Mar 30, 2004 08:54 PM

well in the event that it is a problem and you wait the leo will die. so if you dont think its a problem take a risk and wait it out. if i were u id already be at the vets office. id rather pay a few bucks to ensure that my baby is safe.

The best thing for you to do is to keep the baby in the incubator on a wet paper towel for substrate. The baby will use up the yolk as it should have in the egg. The yolk has nutrients the baby needs. Keep the paper towel moist so the sac will not rip. If the sac does rupture make sure you clean it up, because you do not want the yolk to adhere to the babies skin.

It's a yolk sack. Not a serious problem!

people answering a thread whom have no experience in this situation...... and giving out MISINFORMATION!!!!!! if you dont know the answer or dont have the experience with the question asked do not attempt to answer it thinking you do...... it is clearly the geckos yolk sac and yet someone suggested it was the intestine or whatever and to push it back in NOW that might have very well killed the animal... this was a good question with an easy answer for those whom have had experience with hatchlings....... damp towls in a deli cup and pop it back in the incubator until it, the sac, either falls offf or absorbs or both easy...........
it kills me to see some of the misinformation out there and people are giving it freely and have absolutely NO CLUE
this just frusterates me... the forum as of late has frusterated me

I am beside myself with frustration, and am infuriated with many people on this forum, but in the case of Epreptile89 with this situation in particular, well... it takes the cake. I am exercising self-control to the fullest degree right now. I think it is time for me to stop reading this forum for awhile.

point A) i said it could be a disformation and it could be the intestines or bladder.
B) I NEVER said jsut push it back in i said take it to a vet
C) if this person does not know about yolk sacs then MAYBE they shouldn't be hatching geckos yet

ROI3IN Mar 31, 2004 02:54 PM

a.)maybe it was her first time?? i remember the first time i saw it i nearly shat... it was a good vadilt post answered by people who had no experience in the questions and were just shooting off misinformation from the top of there heads, im assuming to make others thing you know?? i dont know

b) it is clearly not a deformity, especially if you have experience in breeding and hatching geckos... so i assume you dont which would mean dont responde to something you do not know about, thus giving or not giving misinformation

c) i didnt say it was you who said to push it back in.. but that response was totally uncalled for... again someone experienced in breeding and hatcing out geckos AND EVEN KEEPING THEM for long periods of time knows, even if its not a baby if something is hanging out dont just push it back in...... common sense tells us this

It happened to one of my hatchlings last year, and I freaked out, but there is just nothing to worry about, for my hatchling it fell of a couple of hours after the hatch. After it fell of the baby just ate the thing up! Since it contains a lot of nutrition
Just keep the baby sterile so that it doesn't get infected, a vet visit is totally unnecessary.

Good luck!
