The funniest thing happened today

Sam-N-Ella Mar 30, 2004 10:07 PM

My cuban(I will have a name for him soon)iggy bit my cat on the leg. I think he was just tasting him. Anyway usually when the iguana walks he goes right for the cats and makes them move out of the way. The cats follow him around, and the kitten tries to chase him. The iguana was under his enclosure exploring and the cats were sitting with me on the floor. I think he got jealous and walked up to out big cat like normal and licked him on the leg. The cat flinched a little and looked at him. Then out of nowhere the iggy bit the cats leg. He had his whole leg in his mouth. He didn't bit hard, just enough to make the cat jump and holler. Then the iggy sat down with me. He looked up and had this look on his face like ..."what did I do?"...with a mouthful of cat hair. He isn't aggressive with the cats at all, I think he's just letting them know he's in charge. The cats haven't really figured him out yet. I just thought everyone would enjoy that story. I am always right there when I have him out so he or the cats aren't in any real danger from each other.

I also posted this on the cyclura forum.

That is so funny. I wouldn't be afraid to be that he was showing the cats who is boss or establishing dominance. Have you had him around your other igs yet? I know when my male iguana doesn't want to do something that you are making him do, he'll poop all over you. And you know when he doesn't like something because he'll get that look on his face and then...poop all over the place... and then the other nah nah look that he gets. Blue actually hates to go outside. He loves roaming all over the house, but hates going outside. Thanks for the story. I like to hear stories like this.

I introduced the other iggys to him and Ed(Ella- the little one) jumped right on his back. I have a picture of that, it's cute. Sam the 2 year old got a bad impression of him because I had all of them in the bathroom to swim in the tub. I put Sam and Ella in the tub and let the big guy(soon to be named)roam around. He jumped on the tub and slid in and freaked everyone out. So now Sam is not too sure of him and bows up when he is close. I think they will be just fine when I get them together and introduce them the right way, but I'm going to give them a little bit. I'm sure I will have a lot more stories to share with this guy, he is a trip.

OK, here's my funny story from this past weekend...we had Forest out back while Mike & I worked in the yard & Forest decided to climb to the top of the woodpile.

Mike & I had taken down the walls of my son's tree house to replace them (old peg board) so we had leaned them against the pile of wood there.

Forest was walking along & decided to test this new ramp he spotted...(WHAT was he thinking) so after the front claws hit the old tree house walls, it was a 6 foot slide to the ground.

All I heard was scraaaaaatch all the way to the bottem. I turned around to see Forest hit the ground with this LOOK on his face like "WHAT was that?!"

He got it together (while I was laughing so hard I cried) & crawled into the house to hide on his couch.

Soooooo funny...I take it Forest got a ride he didn't expect.

Yep, that's the KING of the wood pile alright. That's so funny. I'll have to build a water slide for my iggys now. I forgot what I was typing because I had to get him out from under the recliner. You have a great looking iggy there. He looks like he loves the outdoors.
