she is still to small for a pinky i got a meal worm wax worm - crickets inbetween i can get... and another thing should i wipe calcium on her lips so she licks it off ??

For yr "Gravid"leo try feeding her some superworms.

feed her a lot of gut loaded everything. you shouldn't have to wipe calcium on her lips, just put some in a bowl for her, and be sure to shake her crix in it.

brandon, how did she get gravid (pregnant?) if she is too small to eat pinkies, then she is too small to lay eggs. i thought you were going to make sure she didn't get pregnant? did you really separate them?

i'm sorry if i seem a little upset about this...but i am! i wish that people would do research before bringing home a new pet. i know that you had your male for a year but that doesn't mean that you know everything about females and sizes and how they interact. you have brought home an animal and because of your irresponsibility, have put her at risk for DEATH. you might as well have taken a dog and let it loose on the highway.

i agree that this forum should be used as a tool for anyone who has any question what-so-ever regarding their gecko. i am glad that you post questions, actually, because it means you want to learn. however, i, and many others have tried to help you again and again by answering your questions to the best of our abilities. we warned you that she could become gravid, that she was too small to be gravid, and that she might stop eating if housed with that male. yet, you allowed it to continue until it was too late. "but mom won't let me get another cage..." was it your parents fault? no...if you couldn't care for her properly by providing her with her own habitat until she grew up then you should have never got her in the first place.

why don't you do a search on google for caresheets of leopard geckos and go buy a book or two on how to care for them. we here are all answering questions we shouldn't have to if you had done your homework.

This a different female than the one he was asking about before...those two are separated...as is this one. This one is from the same breeder he got the other two from who for some reason allowed this leo to breed...he gave her to brandon for free if he could get her to lay the eggs...which are going to go back to the breeder.

Imo i dont' think the breeder is doing a good thing. Brandon you just got your whole set up and geckos straightened out, you were freaking out a week before about it not eating and not having enough space. Now this breeder gives you a pregnant female?
What is he thinking? How old are you? I'm not dissing your age but if this breeder is an adult who knows you've been having problems why would he give you a breeder and not answer your questions? The breeder that you keep getting leos from should be providing you with enough info, and you shouldn't have to come onto the forum and i don't think it's fair that this guy is making you panic.

If you see your breeder give him a [bleep] slap to the head for me.

the problem is that the breeder is irresponsible...he's told brandon that its ok not to quarantine, he's told him it was ok to keep the JUVENILE female and male together...the gravid female is even too small to take a pinky yet, which means she shouldn't have been bred in the first place... Supposedly this breeder also has a vet license...which i highly doubt is real... I'd encourange brandon not to take any advice from this guy.

yeah the breeder is really irresponsible but that doesn't mean that the breeder is wholly at fault. it is brandon's responsibility to learn what he can on his own. i just hope he learns from this experience.

yes, of course it is. and i definitely respect brandon for coming on here to learn. however, i think that this forum, and all kingsnake forums should be utilized as a tool in learning, for people to ask questions about things they might not fully understand and what not--not a basic handbook.

and i understand that brandon is young and therefore maybe rather naive about this stuff--and yes, his parents probably should be playing more of a part in the lives of his pets. but it's not like he's 7...he's plenty old enough to make responsible decisions on his own. he's 15, right? my 15 year old cousin just told me that she was sexually active. i would think if you are old enough to make a decision like that, then you should be old enough to research how to care for a gecko on your own. think about when you were 15...bet you thought you could handle a little responsibility, right? i thought i could cheat death and rule the world.

i guess a part of growing up is learning that there is a time in your life when you can't rely on people doing everything for you--or telling you how to do everything. his breeder has been doing exactly that. in my opinion his coming on here and asking everything from how to raise mealworms to how can i make her eat to how do i heat her cage is doing exactly that. there is no reason why he couldn't do a search online for many of those things and then come on here and only ask about what he doesn't understand about it.

i just hope that next time maybe he won't believe everything he hears from one person and will make a point to go out and do the preliminary research on his own.

ok first of i havent asked how to heat my tank, i asked how other ppl heat there tanks cause i use a heating pad ! and another thing i sher as Fu** dont remem asking about how to rais meal worms.....

i got everything figured out now and this is a different female she is eating realy good now, that i have them split up, she has a big fat juicey tail with only 6 crix from last we THAT IS GOOD i think man her tail is about as fat as width of a pack of round stick pins, which is doing pritty good, i freek out realy easy wit my leos, i want them to stay healthy and nice and fat and never and i mean never lose weight inless they pregnate that that is it!! u guys may think i am a bad leo owner but if u saw a pick of my male he is huge, the newest female she is just as big as he is, and she is adult/juvi they will make a great combo when they get put to gether but that isnt for a while! so dont say that i am a irresponcible owner of my leos cause all of my leos r kept a close eye on, i messed up with my female combinding them no they didnt mate, but that is unfair of all of u guys to critasize on me like this !

ok so i jumped to conclusions and didn't read far enough down in the posts. i didn't know i was so far behind!

regardless, i still feel like he should have done a little more research before taking on new animals. if he was so anxious about his other female not eating when it had only been a couple days since he got her then i can't imagine how he feels about this new juvenile who is too small to lay eggs properly and yet he takes on the burden of trying to help. then he asks what he needs to do and for help, then he says that he knows what to do. and where is this new leo's appetite, and why doesn't he know by now how to get it to eat? "kk guys here wat i needa know, wat to give her so she will get her apitight back and, wat to feed her cause i know she wont eat much i gotta give her some fat food just to get her to keep some weight..." why won't she eat much? i just don't understand, that's all...and a lot of the stuff he asks is posted on many caresheets.

...also, that breeder sucks. brandon--i would never buy anything from him again, if i were you. you will only be encouraging him to breed more--and hurt more animals in the process. i wouldn't trust anything he tells you either. he either lies to you or he outright doesn't have a clue what he is talking about...and he runs a pet store? i feel really really bad for all those animals in that petstore. i wonder how many have suffered to his hand.

this poor kid has made himself look like a fool on this forum and it's never really been his fault since he's had bad info.

take ppls advice brandon stay away from the breeder, don't get too greedy and crazy, just give the free leo back if you can't handle it.

this female is going to be just great when she drops these eggs, all of my leos r in good shape even though this female is 2 small to have eggs, she shall do just fine if she dies then that will NOT BE GOOD AT ALL it will be a sad day at this house!

I don't think that much of the responsibility that everyone is so willingly throwing around should fall on Brandon. He's young, he's just a kid. He doesn't know any better. I think the responsibility should fall on the breeder's shoulders, as he is the one that keeps selling Brandon these geckos and giving him the bad advice, as well as Brandon's parents/guardians. His parents/guardians should be the one on the forum trying to learn as much as they can, not leave all of the responsibility to a 14 year old child. This is neglect by them, not by Brandon as he's tried to get knowledge. I think that it is THEIR turn to come onto the forum, ask questions, read caresheets, etc., etc.

If his parents/guardians would take an interest in his hobbies, then maybe these geckos can be saved, other than allowing him to keep buying more and more reptiles, while not knowing their basic care and requirements. I know that he is going to have a rebutle to this, although, this is what I feel. Brandon - Tell your parents to come onto the forum, I'd sure like to have a talk with them.

i aint planning on buying another leo till these ones have sadly passed away i wish they would live for ever i know it wont happen and, another thing i was told i can ask anything on here, u guys blow s*it way outa control SERIOUSLY! i know u got careing feelings for my leos i am trying to get help on wat to feed her not u guys yelling telling me wat i should and shouldnt do.. cause qite frankly, all of my leos r in good health and thanx to the ppl that got me to take her out of her tank, but u gusy that didnt do hardly anything just now starting to say stuff u dont know half the S*it i have done for my leos i have quit sports just to take care of them so dont judge me just cause i dont know a few things u guys are realy STARTING TO PISS ME OFF!!! cause it getting old i come here for help not to get a lexture just for asking wat to feed my pregnate leo and wat i should do if a leo isnt eating, i come to take care of my leos so they will be healthy and stay in good condition NO MATTER WAT I HAVE TO DO! u guys just dont understand how it must be. i mean my leos r great, as u saw i quit sports for them so BACK OFF AND JUST TRY TO HELP ME! my parents did try to come in and now all they do is just suplly my cricket bin, cause i want to do this all on my own, MY LEOS R IN GREAT SHAPE, i took that female off that guys hands so that she wont have to lay another clutch of eggs untill she is old enough so plz just back off and HELP ME GOD DAMN... srys to everyone for the cussing but u guys realy makeing me mad blameing my breader, blameing my parents, blameing me calling us all irresponsible.. wat is irresponsible is wat my cuzins do to there dog if u wanna here about that i will tell u some other time, lets just say she has a shock collor and i will tell u another time, not the place or the time right now,
