Need help finding a really cool crocodilian related product used on "The Crocodile Hunter"

jrbl Mar 30, 2004 11:07 PM

Hi,
I saw this really cool product that was used to line some crocodile ponds on the "Crocodile Hunter" series. It was a cement/concrete-type product that was installed as such. It had rubber-like properties(water proff or at least water resistant, looked kinda like rubber, and was non-abrasive). The product was installed around the perimeter of some crocodile ponds at Steve Irwins zoo. It was installed to allow the crocs to come in and out of the ponds on a non-abrasive surface and so they wouldn't tear up the pond perimeter when they come in and out of the pond. I have no idea what is is called or where to find it, so I need help. If anyone knows what this is, please help. Thanks for the help, Josh

I didn't see the show but it sounds like a product called Zoopoxy. It is a two part epoxy rubber that can be molded to make just about anything. It actually gets stronger the longer it sits but it is still soft and non abrasive. Here is a link to their homepage. Hope this helps

Thebersrkr,
Thanks for the link. I am not sure if this is the product I am looking for, but it is really cool and will probably work for what I wanted the other stuff for. Have you ever worked with this stuff? If so, did you like it and how easy is it to work with? THanks, Josh

Hey there. I worked with it several years ago and thought it was great. If you call them up they are very helpful and can probably answer about any questions you may have. I thought it was really easy to work with, but I wasn't doing anything fancy. Was just lining an dry enclosure with it. Anyways, hope it helped.
Chris
