over protective?!?!

hey.. my beardie which the pet store told me was a male (im starting to think it is a female) well whenever i hold it, and a female approaches me it will puff up its neck and open its house.. it wont do this if males approach me only females, so im thinking maybe my beardie is in love with me lol, can anyone explain this?

I would guess that it's telling the other ones to stay away because he or she knows you are the good giver. That way, he or she would get all the food?

I don't think they fall in love but who knows? Anything is possible.

He probably had a bad experience with a female keeper and/or is not socialized with them. I'm not sure how much beardies can "keep grudges" or remember things but young dogs need to be socialized to as many different looks as possible in order to reduce the chance of threatened behavior. A dog that is fine with most men may attack one that has a beard if he has not been socialized to that particular look. Just a possibility.
