Mites!

TAloha19 Mar 30, 2004 11:44 PM

So my snake has mites . . . . . any tips?

I took out her half log hide and threw it away. So now she has her terra cotta pot humid hide which she stays in most of the time anyway.
I have Reptile Relief, which I plan to use, but is it okay to use this on the pot? I'm afraid to use it on there because it will absorb into the clay, and that could be bad for the snake.
Do I spray her whole enclosure with the stuff? Or is a bleach/water solution better? And how much bleach to how much water?

This has worked for me and I offer it to you in order to help you with your mite problem.

1. Buy 'Provent-a-Mite' buy spray from pro products.
2. Buy 'Reptile Relief' if you don't have it already.
3. Remove snake(s) and water bowl from enclosure.
4. This might be a good time to clean the cage/tank so clean it and replace the substrate if necessary. If already cleaned, skip to #5.
5. Spray the substrate in the cage/tank per the instructions on the label of 'Provent-a-Mite'.
6. Let the fumes air out and after place snake(s) and water bowl into cage/tank.
7. Spray 'Reptile Relief' directly on top of your snake(s). Follow the instructions on the bottle.

This strategy should solve your mite problem.
