ILLEGAL TURTLES

I heard that turtles are illegal to own in Canada? Is it just illegal to sell them in pet stores-or what if you find one and keep it...is that illegal??

It is illegal to have turtles as pets in Alberta as far as i know. I live in Saskatchewan and I have a turtle. The problem is with pet stores selling turtles, the turtles have to be locally raised, they cannot be shipped in, thats why they are hard to find

Very odd. I had heard before that the reason they are illegal is because of salmonela (sorry if I spelt that wrong) poisoning. But it made me think why they don't ban chicken and eggs then! Well, I don't think there are any wild turtles in the North West Territories where I am, so I'm outta luck!

Ya i hear they are illegal because of samanella too, it is dumb. It sucks that turtles are so hard to find, there is only one pet store that carries them here, maybe you will find one someday!
