i live in the south west of western australia and we have these skink like lizards- they are about 40- 60cms long, shiny black colour, with a really long tail. im having problems because they keep eating our chook eggs ( up to ten a day) i woner if anyone knows how to deter these guys from comming in - our chooks are free range so its har to keep the lizards out. i tried to get a photo but they are really shy and are usually found under bits or tin and wood. help!

This probably is a monitor species (Varanus species).

Maybe Varanus rosenbergi (Southern Heath Monitor).

Take a lok here: www.calm.wa.gov.au/plants_animals/pdf_files/sp_southern_heath_monitor.pdf
