mike884 Mar 31, 2004 06:45 AM

hey all,i've had this yellow saharan for about three months.he eats great and acts normal.he seems to have his right eye closed alot.when i handle him he keeps his left eye open, but his right eye he will open for a couple of seconds then close it.the right eye looks fine no swelling or odd color.i've tried soaking him to see maybe if there is something in his eye.wondering what you guys think??

i'm not sure about it but one of my dragon will do a similar things when i handle him or feed him, he will close his right eye and keep the other one open, it doesn't seem to bother him at all so i don't think there s a problem with it

When you handle your uro, does he keep the eye closest to you closed? A lot of lizards, if they're in a stressful situation and can't run away, will close the eye closest to the perceived threat--making it "go away"--while keeping the other eye open to watch for a chance to escape...It's perfectly normal, and should resolve itself as your guy gets used to you..

On the other hand, if he's keeping one eye closed while you're not handling him, or he's keeping the same eye closed regardless of which side you're on, then it probably is something medical and you should watch for futher symptoms, like swelling or discharge..
