My 5 month old vieled has recently started to "sniff", as if he is taking a big breath with a nose clogged with snot- it sounds just like when you get a cold and cant breath thru your nose but you try anyway- hes doing it fairly often- Im already in the proccess of looking for a vet to take him for a checkup- just wondered if anyone had heard of this before or anything similar- my guess is some kind of respitory thing (obviosly) but how are respitory problems cuased? I think my setup and husbandry is close to perfect, if I had somewereto strart looking for a fualt in my care i might better be able to find it.

Are you sure he's not "snorting" instead of sniffling? Veileds sometimes blow salt out of their noses (or so I read), kind of like iguanas. If it is indeed a sniffle, it may be an upper respiratory infection.
