well if savs are so hard to find cb. well then is it worth spending all that money to get one shipped?

Ive been going through the classifieds alot lately trying to find a good guarentee and shipping method and stuff on savs. Because in the way I look at it it wont be worth it to get one off the internet. I mean who wants to spend more money getting something shipped to you then you spent on the animal? So do you think it'd be safe to just buy one from a petshop? The only problem i see is that in the shops in the town we are moving to(which is only in a couple weeks ) the shop exhibits niles, waters, tegus, and savs in the same cage. Is it still worth such a risk they are all usually very active and look healthy.

thnx,
Tito

Shipping costs and the total cost of a $5-25 monitor then your in the wrong hobby. The animals cost is only the very tip of the iceberg of expense to properly care for a monitor.

The decision of where to get a Sav from can be yours and yours only of course. But a warning, even internet bought animals can be sick. Since the wholesalers get them from farms or nest raids they usually have worms and sometimes parasites. Just make sure that when you get the animal, be that through the internet or a shop, you have it looked at by a vet. With any wild cought monitor there is always a risk of illness.
Just make sure that you pick the most ornery, and rowdy, mean, hissing, tail whipping one of the bunch. Their are normally the healthiest.

It's up to you . Pet Shops are always a gamble. I bought a Sav a month ago and had to put him to sleep literally 48 hrs later because he had a respiratory infection and the Vet said he only had days to live. But I bought one from another pet shop and the little guy was as healthy as ever. I also have bought other reptiles from pet shops and have had no problems. So just check him out make sure the little guy is healthy and maybe a vet visit and some close observation are initially all you'll need...Personally I still don't know about this shipping live animals across the country in boxes over the internet. It's probably great but I still don't trust it since you can't see the animal before purchasing it

If you have a place to keep it already I can get you one at the reptile show june 21st. Where do you live? E-mail me. They are $20 at the reptile show and all are healthy (or the guy I bought from was).
