Taming a baby leo

Mizar 21 Mar 31, 2004 05:49 PM

I have my baby leo for about 4 days now. He's four inch long. A bit shy, he's roaming his enclosure but as soon as i get near, darting right for cover, lol. He's eating about 5 to 6 crix every day now. I was wondering when should i start to handle him a bit ? What has worked for your leo's ?

Well, I have 3 that are about the same size/age as yours. I found that if you take your hand and slowly go toward him, maybe in a corner, and just leave it near him for awhile, he will begin to chill out and maybe come near, you should be able to sort of scoop him up eventually, and just let him rest in/on your hand. Just make sure he doesn't suddenly jump off, which may not end well. It may take a little while, but some of it will depend on the leo's personality. One of my leos loves to be held and will practically walk onto my hand, after only a few weeks of owning him, but the others are a little reluctant.
