how long does it take a leopard gecko to shed?

You usually won't witness it because they do it at night. Before you go to bed they will be a ghost and the next morning they will be beatiful. Sorry this doesn't answer your question but that all I know...

the reason i ask is that about 3 hours ago he was ilky white and now he is back to normal color. kind of wierd huh?

Well, shedding is a process that takes all of the in-between shed time. But, it only begins to show at the very end when they do shed. Mine turn milky white over a course of a few days, and when they turn milky white, they are ready to shed it and will in their own time. Try not to help your leo shed..I know it's hard to resist...Being excited about seeing what they will look like..But...
