The Amazing Flying Moss

TAloha19 Apr 01, 2004 01:46 AM

My gecko is a weird one. lol. She/he has always had sphagnum moss in her humid hide. For the past few days, I've come in and found pieces of it outside of her hide. Not like she dragged a small piece out, but like she kicked it out. It's like 4-5 inches from her hide.
I have yet to witness her do it, but found it odd. Anyone know why she is doing this? Should I change it something else?

Most of my leos do this every once in a while, I think it’s some kind of instinct to dig that they have. You might try to put the entrance on the top of the humid hide too combat this problem. I usually cut only a side door for hatchlings and use paper towel as the substrate.

>Maybe shes pregnant and digging thru the moss to lay them [if she is pregnant] or maybe when she crawls out the moss gets stuck to herfeet and legs and comes off while she walks out.Thats what happens to the vermiculite i use in my humid boxes.
