Can someone remind me how long between mating and egg laying.
Blame it on my age, but I can't remember from last year.

The period of develloping eggs is around 45 days but some corns seem to do it faster. Do you know why? That is because she probably ovulated right before you placed her with the male. So she was developing the eggs already but they only needed to be fertilized.
