Mike,
What might be the most important lesson to learn from the forums is that there are many--many--RIGHT ways of doing things. there is no single right way. One person feeds every ten days. Another every five. Or more often. Neither is wrong. They're doing things in different ways. Ditto for temps--78? 83? Both will work. Tanks or trays? either's fine. Mice or rats? Dead or live? one full sized meal or several small food items? They're all just diff ways of doing things, and they'll work fine for diff people. Try diff approaches but not at the extremes (dropping your snakes is always an undesirable thing) and you'll find the methods that you like best and that your snakes do well on.
The people you have to beware of are the ones that tell you there IS only one way--it's always THEIR way--and that everything else is wrong. In the famous words of Monty Python, "run away, run away"
The outcome of the exchanges on "power feeding," by the way, was that the people who said power feeding is bad were defining power feeding as something along the lines of "feeding to a degree that makes the snake fat or unhealthy". Well, d'oh! Of course that makes it a bad thing. Define power feeding instead along the lines of, "feeding aggressively to optimize growth without harming the animal" and it's an entirely different, and acceptable practice.
i would just like to see them hanging from my neck ? i dont know call me silly!
OK, you are silly (but only in that regard). Mike: if you want jewelry, buy jewelry. Or a necktie. If you want a live animal to admire, enjoy your kingsnakes but don't feel the need to wear them. The rest of your posts here have emphasized how much you care for the animals and want to take proper care of them--stick with those impulses, and forget about kings as wardrobe items.
peace
