>>Good afternoon everyone. I have been reading the forum and trying to get some ideas on what to put in my 20 Gallon Long Aquarium.
An empty tank never stays empty for long, I understand!!
>>
>>If I have read, and understood everything, I can comfortably put 2-3 Leopard Geckos in this size Aquarium, please correct me if I am wrong. (1 male max!!)
Yep Yep! I've done more females than that, but that is my own experience so don't put more in then you feel comfortable doing especially if you are new to leos.

>>What is the best substrate - I have read about people using paper towels, turned upside down tiles, sand for older geckos etc... I know this is more of a personal preference - but I was wondering if anyone ever tried the non-stick shelf liner? Would that possibly be good also?
There is no BEST substrate because it's impossible to please everyone. I use sand in my tank, and a newspaper/reptile carpet combo in my rack but I think I want to change to tiles in my tanks just because the sand is boring to me now LoL. Now the non stick liner I've never tried, but my only thought with that would be is that it is generally very smooth so the leos might have a harder time walking on that, but I'm not to sure...hmm....maybe if it had some texture it would be best I guess I just don't know about that.

>>I would assume, since it has been mentioned that they regulate their own calcium intake that I would need to provide Calcium without D3 in their cage at all times - Rep Cal the best?
Correct, little to no D3. While the rep cal is good stuff, I use the T-rex sandfire brand leopard gecko dust. It has everything they need, I even use it to dust my crickets for my new crested

>>I usually have 1/4 size crickets on hand at all times (for the Bearded Dragon - like to get the medium sized ones so they live longer - and I can order more!) - would this be a good size for the geckos to eat???
Good size! Best thing for them is the medium, to much chiton (sp?) on the larger ones although I like to mix it up sometimes. But yes that size is perfect!

>>How much does a normal gecko usually eat? Should I provide something else besides just crickets for food? Treats like Mealworms (how often), Silk worms (good as a staple also besides crickets?) etc...
There is no "normal" gecko, lol, it all depends on the gecko. Mealworms and silkworms can both be used as staple diets. Many peope leave dishes of mealies in the tank at all times and that is a good idea. My geckos aren't the smartest ones, so not all of mine do that. My new babies are good at it though. Silkies are just a lot more expensive and I haven't used them YET but they sell them at our monthly reptile show so I'm going to buy some this month and see how they like them. I think that made sense. My fat tails will ONLY eat crickets, but it's looking like my newest babies only want mealies. It all just depends on the personal taste (lol) of the gecko on what to feed, and how much. You'll figure it out after a few weeks.

>>I'm checking different web-sites for different information - anyone have any good web-sites to direct me too, it would be greatly appreciated.
Uhh, I just surf and find stuff, but most of it I knew before I did a lot of surfing so I can't help you there.
>>
>>I probably will be reading up on them for the next 4 months before buying any - I have already been reading for 2-3 months. (I read up on the Bearded Dragons and Uromastyx for a year before buying either one of them).
Good luck, I have a hard time reading for months before getting new geckos, I'm a sick individual though (mentally, lol addicted!)
>>
>>I try to be prepared to the best of my ability before adding a new animal, but that empty tank keeps sitting there, and boy, it is driving me nuts!!
You'll do great! They aren't very hard, I'd say a Uromastyx is harder to take care of than a leo, and they still aren't that difficult.
>>
>>I think the NE Florida Reptile Show will be in Jacksonville around August or September and I plan to get my Geckos there. If anyone will be there selling geckos, please let me know!! I will definitely check you out!!
I wish I was in florida...
But I am POSITIVE you will find tons of leos at the show. Look online for the vendors that will be there, and if you find some you can always email them. I've found that most breeders are VERY nice!
>>
>>Thanks for any and all help and comments you have!! Please don't use the substrate questions to start a debate!!! PLEASE!! Thanks!!
Okay I didn't!!
Hope I helped!
