i have a , what i thought weird incident happen . i fed my 02 arizona mountain king female 2 pinkies , the next day she shed . i always thought they lose their appetite befor shedding . anyone else have this happen or is this common for kings ? sean

It's an individual snake thing. I have some that won't eat during a shed. I have some that will eat but then gurg before shedding. And I have some that will eat and have no problem. I never feed in shed on purpose but sometimes it happens.

a snake's a lot more likely to eat just before it sheds, when its skin has cleared up, than it is when it's in the middle of a shed period and very milky or "blue". And it's a lot less likely to regurg a late meal like that than one eaten in the middle of the shed. But as jones noted, it's still better not to offer food at any point in the shed period, because of the risk.
