how would you hand feed a cricket to a cham?

pet_lover Apr 01, 2004 02:03 PM

my veiled doesn't seem to want to eat unless it is off of my hand. He readily eats fruits and worms, but he never eats crickets. I will let one go and it will walk right by him, and he'll just look at me like I am suppose to feed it to him. I've tried a variety of different containers, but I think he is just spoiled.

So, how could I put a cricket on my hand to hand feed it to him, without having the cricket jump/walk away?

Hold it "loosely" by the back jumping legs.

try cup feeding. If you hold it by a back leg (as was suggested) it may very well drop its leg and fall and be loose in the cage (not that big of a deal just make sure any lose ones have food to munch on so as not to munch on your cham at night). I will sometimes pull off the hind legs of the bigger ones, put them in a small plastic Glad Ware type cup (I like the 4 oz. size) and hold it up to Luna. She happily shoots at it in her cup.
