Housing hatchling Cresties?

InsideOutsider13 Apr 01, 2004 03:59 PM

Can hatchling crested geckos be put in the same enclosure or do they tail bite? I am familiar with other hatchling geckos that tail bite as sort of pecking order and they also get nutrients from the tail (a bit cannabalistic). Another thing was the question of how to tell whether they are male or female? Can you incubate them at different temperatures like a turtle or leopard gecko to depict which sex you want. Like 70-75 female or 76-80 male, or something of the sort?

Hello again,

No problem with a couple of hatchlings together again depending of the tank size ... They can be kept until 3 to 4 months old where males can be identify, then separate de males or there will be fighting and tales could be loss.

For sex determination some belive that near 79.5 F you get a 50/50 ratio ...

And finally, for a trio a 29 g. ''tall'' tank is something I would try myself.

Okay, great! thanks for all your help! I was planning on getting Cresties sometime this month and I love to have all the questions answered and everything good to go before I get them (which is obviously the right thing to do). So yep, thanks for the help and hopefully I should get them soon!
