Well, my new turt has started to eat about 3 days ago. I was giveing him an assortment of items to get him to eat. Once I saw that he was eating I started to just give him the reptomin pellets, but he wont eat them. They sit there all day till I get home and then I take them out and put fresh ones in. Today I woke up and the pellets were still there. So I gave him some pellets and some freeze dried bloodworms. He ate the bloodworms but when I got home the pellets were there again. I dont mind giving him the bloodworms because they have a little more protein than the pellets and less fat. But the problem is is that they dont have any calcium what so ever. He wont eat the cuttlebone. So I am not sure how to get him the calcium he needs. What should I do? Thanks and God Bless

i have heard that if you leave the cuttle bone in there, it will dissolve into the water. I am guessing that the turtles get "some" of the calcium this way. my turtles didnt eat the cuttle bone at first either, but now they love it! i say just keep trying it.

and about the reptomin sticks. my turtles ate only bloodworms at first also, but eventually they started to eat the pellets. hope this helps you out!

hi
i usually do a sorta shake and bake (without the bake) when i give my turtle calcium. i'll sprinkle some calcium dust on some meal worms or crickets and shake them around in a ziplock bag so they're totally covered. its a weekend treat for my turtle...he loves worms and crickets. being that your guy is so young i'd get some of those baby crickets some pets stores sell and refrigerate them so they'll fall alsleep...that way it wont be a real big challenge for him to catch.
