The Senate took action on HB1468 about 3:30PM on Wednesday. Senator Hainkel made a motion to delete "reptiles" from in bill but Senator Hines motion to amend it to read "non-indigeous constrictors and venomous snakes" was adopted and passed 33 yays to 2 nays and 4 not voting. Here is the situation. It needs to go back to the House for approval. CALL THE REPRESENTATIVES at 225-342-7263 and ask him/her to insert "15 feet or longer" after "constrictors" on page 1 line 13. You can go to www.legis.state.la.us and look up HB1468. Also call some of the Representative's local numbers and tell them the same thing. If you can't reach them, leave a message. Calls should especially be made to John Alario, House Speaker and Melinda Schwegmann, the bill sponser. Email doesn't seem to be as effective.
