Identifying Morphs

Jbuggs20 Apr 01, 2004 08:50 PM

Ok now im getting alittle confused on somethings.. Whats the diffence between a hypo and a super hypo? Also, all the hypos or supers that I have seen have been tangerines? Is this meaning that every tangerine is atleast a hypo? Alittle info would be great.. A solid definition of Hypomelanistic would be great I dont have a dictionary.

I'll give this a shot-
Hypos have a few body spots generally under 10
Super hypos have none(or very close to it)
There are yellow super hypos, I belive the originals ones were and the tangerine has been bred into them, and still is.
Here is a yellow one and a tangerine one.(both babies)

And here is a tangerine with too many spots to be concidered a hypo.

As for the deffinition, I don't know the exact, but it basiclly means without/or reduced melinin-just like hyper would mean more melinan.

Nope don't count the spots on the head. The one's with no spots on the head are called baldys.

Looks like you got good descriptions of those morphs!... If you happen to be curious about other morphs, I have a page dedicated to describing the different morphs having pics of them. The link for it is in my sig!
