Dragon with lost dentures????

CheriS Jun 12, 2003 11:47 PM

We have two girls that make sounds back to us when we talk to them, I have tried to explain the position they put their throat and mouth in to do it....... finally caught one doing it on camera.

It looks really strange....... like my granny with her teeth out This is Myst, Sandy is the other one that does it.

I think I have seen Teo doing this too - at least I know that she is doing this noise - sometimes.

Hopefully that is not the sign of a respiratory problem. Either way it's very cute!

Cool that they make sounds at you...only sound mine makes is a rather high pitched soft hissing...a 35 gallon glass tank does not provide an easy way to pick up a bearded dragon without approaching above. HEck the only way I can get him out without some protest is if he is hanging off the end of his log in an almost vertical position. In that spot i can pluck him off from the side before he realy notices it. HE's alot more calmer when I pick him up in that position to. Can't wait to get the new cage done...

How can I get mine to talk to me?!! I talk to them all the time and they do recongize their names, I am positive of that. They respond with movement etc but not with noise! Well let me take that back. I have had Fiesty make some nasty noises at me! Sounds more like a hissing, im going to kill you if you dont leave me alone in the morning!LOL

Very neat Cheri. Take care, Lindsay

was the first to start doing it, and she only does it when we are talking to her, playing in the pool with her (she has a splashing game she plays) or when she thinks the other girls are doing something they shouldn't.... Like climbing up the iguana screens, she really gives 'em heck for that, then she makes this really loud constant grunting sound to the other dragons. One day Myst started doing it back, none of the others have ever made any sound but the hissing when startled or unhappy.

I wonder if it has anything to do with thembeing dominate females, we can not put them together as they both are so bossy, but then can go in with all the other girls with no problem.
