Is she pregnant......Help

windyj420 Apr 02, 2004 09:59 AM

I recently aquired a pair of albino leos. Last night she spent the whole night out of their house. Which is really weird because they both stay in there alot, except to eat. He was shedding so I winder if he just kicked her out because he didnt want to be bothered. She is acting very nervous, no noticable digging but I could be missing it. I checked to see If I could see any lumps and I cant tell. I dont really know what I am looking for other than two pink lumps on her right side. Does her behavior sound like that of an expecting mother or am I just paranoid. If she is I need to get her a dig box ASAP.

It sounds possible if she was walking around the tank at night time its fairly common. My geckos come out to hunt and play at night all the time. Being 2 gecko's together id suggest 2 hides so they dont have to share if they dont want.. I dont know exactly what you mean with a dig box but a rubbermaid with some spagnum moss inside moistened on the hot side of the tank would be a sufficient laying box/extra hide box. The easy way to tell if she is Gravid is to let her sit on your fingers then spread them out and look under her useally if there are 2 decent size buldges on the back part of her body she is gravid. It's not always easy to tell. I had suspicioun that my gecko was gravid and luckly bought a hovabator and got ready and sure enough 2weeks later I got 2 eggs. This is breeding season remember... Good luck and keep us posted..

When a female is Gravid...signs to look for would be, digging..eating more for about 3 weeks and then just stopping, and digging, turn her upside down and look for 2 oval shapes on her right AND left side they should be straigt and look like they are from hervent to the middle of her abdomen, you'll also be able to see a red line in them, at least its what i see in my gravid females,
good luck
