What substrate is suitable for the humid hide

elgaz Apr 02, 2004 10:44 AM

I'm waiting for the eggs soon (my girls don't eat almost 1 week!). What kind of substrate should i use in the humid hide for laying eggs? Now i have there small gravel.
And are there any other possible substrates for incubator except vermiculite or perlite? I can't find it in our flower stores. Maybe Ceramsit is suitable?

Vermiculite, Perlite, wet paper towels. They all work pretty well.

Oh. And moss works decently...

I use moss for my humid hides.

I used to use vermiculite and pertile.

I use spaghnum (sp) moss and bead a beast. Paper towels can also be used. Anything that can retain some moisture. Just look for signs of impaction or the leo eating the stuff.
