Hi. So here I am about to do some research on alligator lizards, as I have developed an interest in them, while knowing little about them. The main one I am looking for i can only find reffered to as a "blue alligator lizard" but I can't find any information on them by that name. Can anyone tell me the species name for these guys? Thanks a lot!!!

Not quite sure I can help but I would be interested to know the answer to this question. I have observed some S. Aligator Lizards "Elgaria multicarinata I believe" To show some blue or at the least a blueish tint at sertain stages. I could only asume that posably an under educated persome might not knowing any better refer to one as a Blue Alligator lizard for example Western Fence Lizards "Sceloporus occidentalis" are referd to as "Blue Bellies" by some. Hope this helps a little but I still would love to see somone chalenge my suggestion any takers???? Is there a Blue Alligator Lizard sowhere out there?

Could it be one of the lizards in the genus Abronia? Several years back I saw some pics of Abronia graminea, these lizards were bright green to turquoise in color. I think that the genus Abronia was formerly considered a subgenus of Gerrhonotus. Alligator lizards of the genus Elgaria were also formerly classified in the genus Gerrhonotus. Abronia are found in Mexico and Central America; if you are looking for a blue alligator lizard, I think that this is your best bet. If you are looking for a U.S. species, however, I agree with Jason.

HI,
I have a Northwestern Alligator lizard(Elgaria coerulea principis), and he is bluish. He has blue/turquoise(SP) on the sides of his neck by his ears. His underside is slivery/grey. The rest of his body is "carmel" and Blueish/grey. I don't know if you really meant a "blue" alli, or one with blue. Hope this helps, Josh
