Sick Hognose Snake

stacey1971 Apr 02, 2004 11:46 AM

I have a female hognose snake that i brought out of brumation.
She is usually a pig at this time of the year.Well today she dropped some feces and their was white masses in it almost like mucous. I would take her to the vet but their are not many reptile vets in my area and the last one that i took my hognose to prescribed that I get her a branch to climb on so she can sit under a heat lamp. I laughed and left the office. Well any advise would be appreciated.

Hoggies go off of food from time to time in the winter. My boy did that for about w months this winter, then he started back up again, this time a bit pickier than usual. The whit mucousy masses in her water dish could very well be the beginnings of unfertalized eggs. It sounds like that to me anyway. And if she was ovulating, she may have gone off of her food for this reason too. at least that is my opinion. Here is a pic of my boy. good luck.
