I'm thinking about starting a breeding colony and my wife is worried about having "bugs in the house." Can anyone give me a good idea for an enclosure (with a sealed lid) that would eliminate the possibility of escapes?
Thanks!

Well, for my hissers, I made a lid that they couldnt get past, so i didnt have to deal with messy vasoline. I kept my hissers in a 30 gallon-long aquarium. I went to Home Depot, and purchased a 1.5"x1"x10'piece of rectangular pine, that was in the trim section. Then I purchased a roll of aluminum screen(the same stuff you use for screen doors. I already had a staple gun, so i didnt have to buy that.
I built the frame to sit in the inset of the plastic molding on top of the aquarium. a snug fit is key. The frame was a rectangle with a crossmember in it, for stability(Made it look like an 8). I stapled the screen to the bottom of the frame, stapling very close together so as to not allow gaps. I then covered the ends of the screening with duct tape, that overlaped onto the side of the frame. the duct tape made the fit more snug, and it covered the jagged edges on the screen from when i cut it. even the baby hissers cannot get through the screen, so I have no problems with escapes, unless I take the lid off and forget about them.
hope this helps.
