What size should D. leucomela froglets be for release into larger vivarium?

fuqua Jun 13, 2003 12:48 AM

I have four juvenile D. leucomelas currently housed in a 5.5 gallon vivarium. When they have grown enough they will go to a 36" H / 36" W / 18" D ( 91cm / 91cm / 46cm ) heavily planted vivarium with waterfall, so....how big should I let them get before I release them into this larger tank? My frogs are almost 1 inch ( 2.5 cm ) long now . I know in the past I've read information on this subject in the archives but I can't seem to find it now.

Thanks

Most say to keep them in a small container for about a month after you get them to make sure they are eating and are heatlthy. I put my leucs straight into the big tank, and they did fine. My Azureus I kept in a small tank for about 3-4 weeks.

Depends
Do you have other frogs in the terarium?
If so wait untill the juvinile stage to release them and watch for bullying

If not and they are eating fine and appear healthy than go for it.
