A new family addition.....and a question ..

beginnersbasics Apr 02, 2004 06:22 PM

This is Charisma, she is a Red flame/Blood x Snow. 9 months old and 17". I weighed her when she arrived and she was 242 grams.

I do however have a question.....
Take a look at the picture below and tell me what is wrong with her eyes LOL

She is currently in shed and not showing very good colors..... and of course is new and a little bit stressed.

we got pictures of last October when it was 4 months old and had the same problem.

If you want, I can email you the pictures and you can see if it is her, sure looks like it to me and Axe looked at them too and thinks they are the same dragon.

Anyway, lower lid droppiness in bearded dragons are usually related to one or two things, renal/kidney problems and some vitamin deficiencies, especially Vitamin B deficiency. Brewers Yeast, dusted on food or slurried in water and given via eyedropper (orally) has helped some. But my advise is to take her to a knowledgable herp vet and have her checked.

I had thought the person that emailed us last october had already done that and knew what it was.

possibly bassett hound. Try putting a shoe under her nose and then hide it. She if she can find it. This is, of course, just a theory.

On a more serious note. That is very odd looking. I haven't seen that before.

Yeah, her eye stays in the top of the socket... her other eye seems ok. Figuring maybe an old injury or something...

Take Cheri's advise with the brewers yeast. I also know of dragons that it has helped.

I'm sorry I can't help with your droopy eye problem, but i would like to ask beardieddragon something: what is that a picture of?! It looks like a cross between a rhino iggy and a beardie.

I agree with CheriS,

Droopy Eyes(Bloodhound Eyes):
This could be a sign of acute or chronic kidney failure. In any case, the beardie would need to be seen by a reptile vet as soon as this is noticed, whether on one side or both.
