dry food.

so I couldnt make it to the grocery store after work and I realized I didnt have any greens to feed my ig. So I decided to feed him some stuff that I got when I first got him just for today and see if he will even eat it... The dry food is called Fluker's Juvenile Iguana Diet. I have never given it to him since he always eats fresh greens and viggies. I wonder how he will feel about this. I dont think its bad for him just for one day... I mean humans eat power bars, sport drinks, and cereal and they can live off that for a couple days... why cant my healthy ig? Well I just wanted to see if anybody else had any input on this diet formula...

We run an iguana rescue and we do not feed the dry pellets for a regular diet however we have several who love them for a treat. There shouldn't be any problem feeding them for one day but it could be a problem if used all the time, then again if you fed it turnip greens everyday and nothing else that could even be a problem. For the one time or as a treat though it's no problem. As far as the mixing with water it does make it more digestable for the igs but can lead to other problems. You cannot leave it in the cage as long because it is much more apt to grow mold and bacteria especially in the heat and humidity that is in an igs cage. So anyway just be careful with it and good luck!!

Forest wouldn't eat for a few days when he first came to us so I bought the dry food too (mixed well with water). His previous owners said they had used it & Forest liked it.

I also bought some JumpStart stuff for him...appetite stimulant, & used it once to get him eating.

Since that night I haven't had to use anything. Forest likes his greens. I was lucky.

One day of dry food should be bad. Just one day though. I know my ig shopping is a pain but...gotta be done.

Good luck with your ig.
