I had bought 2 dragons sold as a pair from a local pet shop and I think they were 2 males. I don't hold it against the shop, they keep their animals in immaculate condition and are nice people. Today I went in for a minor purchase and they had 2 females for sale (which I looked at them, I'm no expert though) and they went home with me so I am a 4 dragon family.
They are so different, one is sort of pumpkin colored, another a normal looking one, one is normal colored but with nice patterns even on her tummy, and the other is very very light colored.
Anyway, how did y'all become dragon mommies and daddies for the first time, did they sort of 'jump in your cart' in the pet store or how did you get them?

I first saw them at a reptile convention when I bought my chameleon. Over the next year or so I studied and read a lot about them on the internet, and of course fell in love. So the next time I went to a reptile convention, Lynn of Lynn's bearded dragon's was there. She had a beautiful little six month old gold X yellow flame, perfect condition and great personality. I brought him home and the rest is history.

My son was dating a girl who's father had beardies, he got one for free and I liked it so I went to the pet store and bought one and they gave me a free one as a rescue since his tail went at right angels to his body. Than we bought 4 more to add color. Somehow my son got all the females and I got all the males????? The expensive part is the 7 cages and the crickets, I do not even want to think about Vet bills. Though they come up every now and than.

My first interaction with a dragon was about 4 1/2 years ago when a fellow college student had to go buy crickets to feed her adult normal male. I went over that night and she took him out and let me hold him, it was his bed time so he quickly fell asleep on my leg and I thought that was so cool (the other girls there were freaked out and couldn't believe I would even touch that 'thing'). Then about 3 months ago my father caught a golpher snake and asked me for a ride up to the pet store to buy a mouse for it, once there I was looking around and saw baby sulcutta torts and fell in love as I am a huge turtle fan. So, I bought 3-7 books instead of the tort to read up on them and have been trying to convince myself since then that I do not really want a tort that will grow to be a walking endtable, still haven't managed that though so I don't have a turtle yet. hehehe. But in my looking around for turtles at any pet shop I could go in, in a petco in redding, ca I found a red and white corn snake. Since my readings had only been on turtles, I did not know that snake could come in those beautiful colors and it was love at first sight! Once I got Rio, I decided that I wanted one of those dragons I had held so many years ago and the rest is history.
