For all electricians...please look

If I plugged my leos lamp into a GFCI, would it help protect me from fire? Or, would the GFCI work with the UTH? I was wondering this because I am leaving for a couple of days and really don't like leaving stuff on, for no other reason than preventing a possible fire. But my leo needs some sort of heat source. I also use an UTH, but I trust them less than a bulb for heat (when I am away). Maybe I am just paranoid about leaving home and it catching fire while I'm gone because my UTH shorted out, that's why I ask about the GFCI. Any thoughts on this would be very helpful.

yep it is actually a good idea to use one. In case something shorts out it will kick out. Just be sure to check it every once in a while with the test button.

my fiance is an electrician, and I asked him about this, and he says NO, it will only protect you from shock. And if any water gets near it, it will automatically trip it.

Hope this helps.
