Ok, so I've had my king for about 3 weeks now. The petstore fed him a live pinkie right before I bought him. A week later, I fed him a thawed pinkie, no problem. I tried a couple times in the past two weeks to feed him, with no luck. I noticed his eyes were cloudy, so I figured he didn't want to eat 'cause he was about to shed. Well, he shed three days ago, and I tried to feed him again today. He still won't touch the thawed pinkie. Should I go get a live one? How long before I really need to start worrying? How often should I attempt to feed him until he eats something? I feel kind of bad for throwing away so many mice when he refuses them.

wait a couple of days and try again... i dont recommend feeding live prey.give him a couple of days and he will eat.

And don't worry, your snake won't starve even if it takes a week or more to get it to eat...just be patient. You could just wait several days to make sure it's good and hungry before trying again if you don't want to keep tossing pinkies....I was lucky, back when we were feeding 20 snakes at a time and had to guess how many of each type of mouse they would eat and we had extra, we had a snapper who was always quite happy to finish off leftovers...
